“We stayed at the hotel for our honeymoon and it was by far the best accomodations that we had had on our entire trip. Most of the restaurants are 1-3 blocks away from the hotel and a walk to the dive stores, the Tahai complex (Moais!) and museum are 5-15 minutes. It is also close to the trails up to Rano Kau crater if you fancy hiking. Breakfasts at the hotel are truly an experience and included warm rolls, coffee, fresh made mango and guava juices, omelets, plantain pancakes, or fried eggs, fruit, and avacadoes. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms were spotless. There is also a fridge in the room, coffee, and a safe. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and Bill, the Australian owner, offered two spectacular tours to the south and to the west of the island. He is well read and provides both a historical perspective as well as some background on the culture of the island. Both tours are well worth it. In many of the reviews I have read, they mention that this place is pricey but the truth is, the island itself is not cheap (for reference, plan on spending US $30 for a single lunch entree, $14 for a small pizza, and up to $18 for a dessert!). The Taura'a was well worth it!”

“Hotel Tauraa is reasonably priced and offers the BEST breakfast on the island (free to Hotel occupants). Additionally, while we traveled to Easter Island primarily to see the Rapa Nui ruins and various Moai around the island, Bill (owner of Hotel Tauraa) offered up some of the BEST tours I´ve ever been on ($60 US pp for 7-8 hours!). When I say best on the island, I mean it in the sense that if English is your native tounge or prefered language...there is no better tour guide than Bill. He is well read and very interesting as he connects the dots to the rich history of the Rapa Nui people and gives a balanced perspective on its future. You can only get his tours if you stay at Hotel Tauraa & you will not be disappointed. I left Easter Island wanting to learn and know more about its history/people and culture. I highly suggest staying as we did---together as a family in a room of 4 beds. Very spacious rooms with nice bathrooms. Noise level is ideal and location is great.”

“We were thrilled with Tauraa. Friendly and helpful service. We paid by credit card with no extra charge. No service/tip requested or put on the bill. Cash easily available on the Island if needed. We gave a tip because we so enjoyed our stay here. Strongly recommended.”
